Lent officially began on February 18th, which for many of us also marked the beginning of a challenging, forty-day dessert fast. Even though saying goodbye to desserts is never simple, we’ve come up with a few alternatives to help you feel less sad. The five snacks listed below are so naturally sweet and delicious that they will make you forget about the cupcake you have been craving.

1. Frozen Banana Ice Cream
Blend a frozen banana with the mix-ins of peanut butter, cinnamon, and coconut in a blender with a little bit of almond milk until creamy. Ban(an)a-ppetit!

2. Spiced Apples and Nuts.
Do you feel like some apple pie? Slice up a fresh Granny Smith, combine with a tablespoon of your preferred nut and a splash of allspice, and microwave for one minute.
3. Bits of frozen yogurt
Say hello to the wholesome cousin of Dippin’ Dots. Just pipe tiny circles of your preferred yogurt onto a cookie sheet using a plastic bag, then place the cookie sheet in the freezer until the yogurt is completely frozen.

4. Toast with honey and peanut butter
Although it may seem boring, this sweet-salty combination will keep you full for the whole Lenten season.
5. Popsicles with fresh fruit
Just pour your preferred fruit juice into a popsicle form for a tasty and cool snack.  Don’t have a popsicle mold?  Consider using little Dixie cups.

6. Trail Mix
Mix together your favorite dried fruit, nuts and seeds for a quick and easy treat.

7. Popcorn with cinnamon
Although this isn’t a particularly sweet snack, the cinnamon’s sweet-spicy flavor will satisfy your want for dessert. Just season your preferred brand of popcorn, lightly salted popcorn with a touch of cinnamon.

8. Frozen Mangoes
Light, sweet, and tropical, these delicious chunks taste just like fresh sorbet.

9. Sweet Potatoes
Mash ’em, bake ’em, or boil ’em– any which way, they’ll make your taste buds happy.
